Listen To This | Birds + Healing, How To Find Your Voice, and More!
A Podcast Rec for Tuesday, February 11th
Welcome to Listen to This, a new feature within Welcome Wanderer. Each day, I share a favorite podcast episode or audiobook —something that moved me, challenged me, or simply made life a little brighter.
Today, I’m trying a new format for these audio recommendations. A few paragraphs and you can choose your own adventure!
For reasons, I have yet to reveal, I’m diving deep into ornithology and the world of birdwatchers. In my research, I discovered licensed marriage and family therapist, Tammah Watts and in this podcast she talks about her book and how birding was and still is her catalyst for healing.
If you feel like you’ve lost your voice in a relationship, this heartfelt and practical conversation with Krista Williams will inspire you to find and express yourself once again! I loved her encouragement to speak into a voice recorder and listen back to yourself.
This episode from The Psychology of Parenting podcast about how to talk about healthy tech use with our kids got me thinking and dreading having this conversation with mine. I’m so sensitive to any screen time for my kids and pretty much don’t allow it in our house.
And lastly, I enjoyed this interview with Alison Wood Brooks on Hidden Brain about how to engage with people in a more meaningful way, the power of questions, and how to move from surface to deep levels in our socializing!
I’m off to fetch my kids from school, then grab a snack at a local cafe, and then to ballet lessons for my girls. All on the bike! I hope you find something here to listen to while you run your errands today if you need some wise company :)
Question for you: Have you ever gone bird watching? Tell me about it!
Traveling with you,
-Charissa
PS: Not sure how long this experiment will last, but I’d love to hear if you enjoy these daily recs!
