Hi Friend, I hope your life has been full of fun surprises today!
I’m so glad we can meet here- Welcome Wanderer!
Today’s letter is refreshingly brief.
Inside you’ll find:
an easy recipe for change!
a prompt to release the stuck energy,
and our Wanderer of the Week…I’ve been reading her poems every night before bed.
So, grab a snack and let’s chat…
There comes a time when we just need to say, “Let’s see what happens…”
We know how to deliberate for hours, days, months, and years about any decision. I don’t think I’m the only one who does this, am I? We are all masters at turning every tiny choice into a premeditated soupy mess.
We mostly talk ourselves out of taking action, resorting back to our stale ruts and crusty routines. We wrongly assume it takes a hefty dose of courage to walk a different direction. I don’t think it does.
All it takes for us to change is a teaspoon of curiosity, an infinitesimal amount of oomph, a smidgen of so what, and a pinch of possibility.
Where are you feeling pigeonholed into an identity or career or project? Are your wheels spinning and you can’t seem to find traction?
We can panic over our stuckness. I do this all the time! We can just give up. I do this too!
OR…and here’s where life gets fun…
We can see what happens.
No super-human strength or weird willpower is required. You only need to come with a low-grade interest in what could be and a half-assed attempt to give it a try.
When we distill our seemingly large predicaments or major worries down to just another step in our adventure, we can finally accept the invitation to wander free. Our life opens up. Our lungs expand with fresh air, our heart leaps with delight, and the path ahead looks less daunting.
I’m sure there are multiple areas in your life where you are feeling that familiar stuck energy.
Be curious about…what it would look like if you just decided to “see what happens…” if you took a tiny action.
Envision yourself, just for a moment, giving whatever it is a whirl. And everything being okay.
Poetry is my faithful guide into and through the uncertain times in life. A few lines are all I need to deliver me right into the sacredness of everyday life, into the present.
Jamie Varon’s vignettes offer alternate realities and remind me how much living I still have left to do. Her words jump off the page and jolt me out of any blah state I might be in.
I’ve been reading through her new book, The Alchemy Within, opening to a random page every night before bed. And after a long day, it calms my aching body and alleviates the stress almost instantly. I’m not kidding.
Here’s one such line from a recent vignette I read this week,
“The dream isn’t really about the destination, but the joy contained within the wondering, the wandering, the doing, and the trying. The point of any dream is to get you up and in your life, engaged with it. And wherever it takes you, make it beautiful, because you built that by your own excitement, following one light after another.”
Stunning, right?
Be sure to check out Jamie’s beautiful work!
Well, I timed this just right. My 3 youngest kids literally burst through the front door from school. My house is now filled with screaming voices, flushing toilets, and requests for snacks.
The sunshine is calling though…
